Since the announcement of the Overwatch League (OWL), things have been pretty quiet, until now! Blizzard’s Overwatch League Commissioner ‘Nate Nanzer‘ just revealed a very exciting slide proposing the first 16 cities to have their very own teams at the Sports Business Leaders Conference in London today.
The list revealed is more than likely to lure investors and not the official lineup as Nate clarified in a Tweet. Though, there is a high chance that a good majority of the major cities listed will have teams very early in the OWL.
Nothing to see here guys. A slide I made for the audience here to illustrate the vision. The word “illustrative” is in the bottom corner… https://t.co/8pZAtFzka7

It’s reported that acquiring a team slot will cost between 2-15 Million USD depending on the city. Presumably larger city slots like Seoul and Los Angeles will be closer to the $15 Million mark. The Overwatch league is set to begin in September 2017.
