Blizzard Entertainment today released the highly anticipated Rise of the Necromancer Downloadable Content (DLC) for Diablo 3, along with the 2.6.0 patch which brings several new features to the game.
New features include Challenge Rifts, weekly static dungeons where players race against the clock with a set character that the game provides in order to earn loot boxes and place on the leaderboard (if the original time is beaten). Two new locations, The Temple of the Firstborn and The Moors, which can be located in Act 2 in Adventure Mode. New monsters, with new abilities unlike anything seen before.
Additional content in this patch also includes several quality of life changes, allowing players to instantly respawn in Greater Rifts (though still adding to the death timer). For full details on the patch, head over to the official Diablo 3 website.
Blizzard does seem to be pulling one over the community though, making it sound like it has a campaign attached to the DLC, this is not at all the case and quite frankly, many have expressed their concerns over the “value” of the DLC. The Rise of the Necromancer will set you back $15 USD ($21.95 AUD). If you’re a patient gamer, I’d suggest waiting for the DLC to go on sale and not paying the full fee.
