The Overwatch anniversary event is officially underway. With an overall 100 anniversary rewards, the event boasts many new sprays, unique dance emotes, new arena maps, and what Blizzard has labeled the “Largest-ever release of Legendary skins” for your favorite heroes.
All new goodies can be obtained exclusively during the event via loot boxes or purchased with in-game currency, where legendary skins will set you back 3000 currency a piece. Though it might be worth waiting till the last day to purchase with in-game currency, just in case the item you desire drops from a loot box.
We’re humbled and honored to commemorate one year of playing Overwatch with you! What better way to mark the occasion than with new maps and lots of new loot?
Much like Ecopoint Antarctica, the new arena maps (Necropolis in Temple of Anubis, Castillo in Dorado, Black Forest in Eichenwalde) are available for 3v3 elimination matches and custom games even after the event is over.
New Patch Notes have also been released with the event, slightly buffing Genji & Hanzo’s wall climbing mechanics and changing the numbers on several other heroes.
If you have yet to play the behemoth that is Overwatch, now might be the time to consider with Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition and the Standard Edition being sold for a discounted price.
The Overwatch anniversary event will run from the 23rd of May until the 12th of June, 2017 (don’t forget to log in while the event is live to pick up a free loot box).
